Three different companies contacted KARE-11 News to say they are both counterfeit and were sold on Etsy.
Two of the three men tell KARE-11 that they started making and selling the fake Covid Masks “for entertainment purposes.” One of the men even says he invested $30,000 to make the masks and sell them at events, but eventually realized they weren’t for use and stopped making them.
Other sellers mentioned to KARE-11 Media said they don’t believe it is illegal. However, one sales representative with a counterfeit and unregistered business license in California says sales of fake cosmetics in that state is a crime.
That hasn’t stopped Etsy from taking down the fake masks from their marketplace. Other companies still have the masks on their sites for anyone to buy. Three different companies contacted KARE-11 News to say they are both counterfeit and were sold on Etsy.
