Body of missing man found after police searching for two women

Police investigating the death of a man at a Sussex property where they found two women in critical condition, have also recovered a weapon.

Officers were called to an address in Thornhill, in Vaughan, on Thursday, after receiving reports of a man in his 40s missing.

The body of the missing man was found on Friday, the Sussex police said. There have been no arrests.

A 54-year-old woman and a 52-year-old woman were taken to hospital with serious injuries. They have since been discharged.

A 46-year-old man, who had been detained on suspicion of murder, has been released under investigation, the force said.

The victim is believed to have a mental health condition and it is understood he did not own the property.

Detective Chief Inspector Stephen McLeod, leading the investigation, said: “Following inquiries today, including enquiries at the address, the body of a man has been recovered.

“I am still in the early stages of the investigation but would urge anyone who may have any information to contact my team at the Sussex police sexual offences and child abuse unit on 101 quoting ISR 205 /19/07.

“I would like to thank the local community for their patience while this incident is being dealt with.”
